“Of weapons I am the thunderbolt; among cows I am the Surabhi. Of causes for procreation I am Kandarpa, the god of love, and of serpents I am Vasuki.” 10.28 Bhagavad Gita The Opulence of the Absolute
Apparently, these are all allusions to images associated with Divinity…the “Surabhi” is a bovine goddess, the mother of all cows, “Kadarpa” and “Vasuki” are also emanations of Divinity, and the “thunderbolt” is probably that of Indra. These are all origins as much as they are entities, and really are of a nature in which they can be seen also, too, as causes. It’s here that we can realize simply, frankly, that forms (and, by extension, causes) really are appropriate expressions of the enigmatic Infinity that is the bedrock of material substance…that they can effectively reference the ineffable, somehow, and, in doing so, manifest It in a meaningful fashion within the very experiences at your doorstep…that they can get you high on life, life being a flow which extends endlessly beyond its very conceptual bounds, when viscerally experienced.
Like those real feels.
“He” is the singular vision in any cascading sets of paradigms, on any day and at any time, always the truest purpose of sight itself. Of “weapons” He is not only the “thunderbolt”… but, in certain moments, that’s all that He is…and it always makes sense just as to why.
He’s basically the dude the lyrics in “Come Together” are about.
The Now. Cosmic will, glimpsed for what it is. Awake, yet constrained (those who sprang forth of Source). Omnipotent, yet hopelessly stoned on an in-house ape brain. Formless yet expressed utterly, beyond comprehension just as to how, in certain ways on certain days at the bewitching hour, never to be uttered quite the same ever again….
No matter where you are looking, it is there. It’s what the moment at hand is always absolutely referencing, at its sub-est subtext, the big singular secret underneath the whole charade. At all moments reality is structured as thus, that it’s always about this, and to somehow crack the code and run into phenomena with that at forefront of your conscious attention…it really seems to both explain the pivot which takes place when one really starts to act, with the entirety of their Being, for the benefit of all Beings as well as it potentiates one’s ability to effectively do as much.
Admittedly, that’s where this all gets real for me. Otherwise it seems…anything but intuitive. A learned behavior for certain…something that is far too rarely induced by experiencing nature…it’s cultural. It still manifests spontaneously in nature, outside of culture, or largely outside of culture, while in the midst of intense spiritual experiences for the most part…and that’s sort of my point. I think it takes overt opulence…intense, loving absurdity… miracles, to induce this sort of systemic shift in how one views everyday reality. This idea that you’ll get it while wearing a sweater vest, enjoying some Panera Bread on a park bunch while feeding some ducks during your Junior year in college is as romantic as it is naïve…however, if one of those ducks began speaking to you, had a refreshingly deep catalog of information regarding the origins of the cartoon Popeye the Sailorman cocked and loaded, and had little bald patches on his respective nips upon which he had the Olson Twins, circa their Full House years, tattooed… now you might truly understand just how deep this might actually run.
Which really gets into…reality is really good at getting us to effectively increase our capacity to be of benefit to other living beings. It’s not all of that bleak of a predicament, this whole life thing, for many if not all of us. Life is triumphant by its own merits…its own nature…this is the underlying message of the overarching chapter from which today’s passage was taken…this is the Opulence of the Absolute…everything is Infinity, full of undying life and capable of anything. Everything is, truly, God…at some level. Great piety…great discipline and devotion…this is how we reliably tap into this across time, but at its simplest level it should be noted…life is, by its nature, triumphant, and most calls to discipline are frankly…overkill.
Until they’re not but I’ve always been of the camp to assume that you can hit snooze for a hot minute without getting into trouble. I suppose like most (all) things in life, its situational…
Anyways, it’s everywhere, man. The beginning of all of this, the initial cause of all causes, is literally in the fabric of every atom. The time before time is in every thing you shine your conscious focus upon…and it’s determining just what said focus will see in what it is focusing on across time. This is a simulation, man, and there’s some sort of weird lag between the simplicity of what it needs to convey and the atypical lifespan/span of conscious lucidity… we can dial this sucker in in like 5 seconds once we’re hella trained, but we live for hilariously long stretches of time. This is that sweet continuum in which life pivots from survival to creative expression…expression which uses the very forces of nature itself all the Secret-style to hack the law of attraction to tap into powers reserved solely, both historically and simply conceptually, for the territory of God.
And if you think you can sit on a park bench and enjoy Panera while dressed nicely, wearing your human suit, don’t be shocked when some sort of cosmic inconsistency tasks you with performing an act of benevolent sorcery for the benefit of some sort of cantankerous duck; this is basically how compassion works. They did this to Mother Theresa too, in their own ways.

Time is the channel through which meaningful communion is achieved. The mortal death is but a stop along the path.
