“Before giving up this present body, if one is able to tolerate the urges of the material senses and check the force of desire and anger, he is well situated and is happy in this world.” 5.23 Bhagavad Gita Karma-yoga- Action in Krsna Consciousness
Everything in time passes through your center. As such, the moment of death, whether we were witting or unwitting of the sheer locus of our control as individuated beings, beings who are an expression of the Infinite Source from which Life forever flows forth, can really only accurately be described as the moment one willfully “gives up” “this present body”, as the individual is the very Source of the universal forces which begin the process of the/their-own mortal death, when the causation chain is dutifully analyzed. They are (any person), at all moments, by the very shackles of determinism that are the dynamics of life in the universe, the Supreme force which directs the Cosmos….in addition to it’s utter subject.
The good/righteous life truly is the only hand to play under such parameters. Righteousness…your inherent true nature…growing into the image of our Maker…these are the fetters of the mortal life…
Which, from a visionary standpoint, would suggest we are here to build Heaven/refine ourselves so as to open up the sheer possibility…I don’t think there’s any possibility of falling short of this goal…that this is what the individual life is in the abstract, despite the wild amount of differences there are life to life (with some people dying in the womb, even…)…that it always accomplishes that goal, the life, so as that all born are forever born…forever living on after the mortal death… so that everything material is of God, and is forever, even if the material isn’t…that this life looks rather precious…
What one “gives up” at the moment of death is merely “this present body”. Instead, the lion’s share of their conscious attention…all of it…their very consciousness…becomes everything. It is omnipresent…formless, yet retaining the characteristics of form…an identity…a personal history in the world…still there…still playing a part in the various karmic systems of the cosmos, even, as those with Karma are aware of the dead/afterlife/potential for communion with “ghosts”…
But this, this is not unknown territory to the psyche of Man. This is what life asks of us…you could claim that yogis and the such are specialist types who’ve chosen to explicitly study the territory, but I mean to construe that the righteous/good life asks us to “give up” our bodies in a certain sense…to some sort of higher power/orienting force…
It, quite naturally, rather quickly, with mature adults, goes well beyond deferring to a moral or ethical code… if only life could be so easy. Time and time again life will painstakingly chart the territory of what’s allowed, codifying it in a thorough fashion and aligning social support behind the code… and then the universe quickly deals a handful of scenarios in which the code is perverted, but the perversion appears to clearly be just/an act of Universe… and the individual is thrown into a pressure cooker scenario which hopes to break his dependence on the 2-dimensional, and redirect him to what is Sentient and Omnipresent…transcendental communion with the Source as a modality of decision making…which is essentially the same as following morality, most of the time, but it opens up the potential of seeing each and everything as of God, from God, in each and every moment, and this simply takes us all…potentially so much further… than secular systems very secretly condoned by spirit…
When we “give up”…when we surrender effectively to the right kind of conception of a Higher Power… we do essentially as the Yogis do…we wu-wei…we tap in. The sensation of as much, amongst practitioners, quite naturally…is one of levity…of escaping the body and astral projecting through vivid imagination-scapes as one meditates… not a facet of thinking, but a genuine vision that assaults a dumbfounded, and oft slightly struggling personally, I nearly nod out body…. An escape from bondage of the body/material form…and a general disconnect from aches and pains… spaciousness…whatever that means… things feel better, and dreamy… dissolution-y… like entire negative trips in our reality were just lovingly pruned away by a messianic force… we effectively do begin to merge into Infinity…while remaining a stupid, normal, limited being…who like… doesn’t realize that they still have a piece of broccoli between their front teeth…or who have simply plum forgotten how to do long division…
What even is long division, anyways, but a way to appease the God from which this entire thing flows?! What is elementary education other than as much? It’s like we’re in zoo…and we’re on display…
These various tools of the culture…these computational systems and the such…all of this “thinking” the people are being forced to do…it’s all pure energy. It is the universe…it’s everything.
What one ought to do in this world is “tolerate” the “urges of the material senses”…because the man who is living his life right…the man who has undertaken a daunting personal journey so as to cultivate that magical and singular worldview which regards the very stimuli specifically engaging his specific “perceptions” of the “material” world as his path in life, as that which God is asking him to address/engage conscientiously… is a blessed man. To have what your eyes are drawn to at this very moment when all conscious activity is willfully suspended be the singular thing the universe whole-heartedly wants you to engage conscientiously is to be blessed beyond belief. It’s also…the only way we can potentially keep ourselves afloat…it had to be designed as such.
If one “checks” the “forces” of “anger” and “desire”…in the sense of filtering them, effectively, through his value system…but also in the sense of a thorough and effective investigation as to their origins and what they may be hoping to accomplish as they cross paths with you in your day to day life… one will be “well situated” and “happy” in this world…as these are orienting forces meant to elucidate God’s will. It’s a loving system, like a loving mother, more than a discipline system, when you realize that emotions are orienting forces, and that they are catered personally to you. If you can still maintain a base level of discipline/self-realization… you’ll stay on track, day in and day out in life as you simply listen to the feedback loops in your life…
The rest is supplementary. Conventionally this is where a Yogi goes on a tyrannical and aloof soliloquy about how the various details of our lives are like pop-up shops, constantly flipping over, and even our brain starts to give up on trying to regard any of them as all that precious, ceasing the formation of new memories somewhere along the way in individual life, and how nothing is forever and desire is discontent manifest and it’s all about cracking the underlying pattern, and that’s what it’s about and… but unfortunately I’m too keenly aware that each and every transpiring of mortal life is remembered forever, clearly, in Eternity/Eternal consciousness… that each and everything is equally precious and only thoroughly precious, and that the normal way of looking at things is frankly bullshit, and that suffering is horrible and can and should be stomped out by Divine Grace in the social world.
You do need to crack the underlying pattern, but I also just tell you outright just about any time I blog so… I merely mean to capture that it all ultimately comes around to be about us as individuals. The only vehicle by which one can effectively self-actualize in a universe that has a capacity to be random and filled with tragedy and suffering…is effective posturing towards God. We try to talk around it a million ways, but within the frameworks I write within, the only thing that can truly keep suffering at bay, that can keep the world fair enough that the human psyche doesn’t short-circuit from stress or turn utterly mean/savage… is effective and total dependence…on a power far greater than ourselves. But then, that dependence plays out as utter resonance, and in an active way…it requires an individual to cultivate great levels of social efficacy through labor and repetition across time…as great men do…it requires the individuals to grow into the image of the ideal masculine or feminine in their larger societies’ culture…as their societies’ frameworks are Divine in origin…it doesn’t even matter how crude the primary culture is…
The only way to be yourself reliably in a random and cruel world full of disruptors…of seditionists… at some point, it becomes black and white…you need Something looking after you. Spiritual writing has stressed the paradigm of the “warrior” in the past in its absence as well as a means of emanating It…but eventually life forces you into some sort of lap of luxury.
And while there, you become It. Whether you integrate it into your social identity in an active way or not… it becomes your identity, somehow. The feedback loops of your life are as such that it propels you…you have given up your body, and merged effectively, while still retaining said body, with Omnipresence.
Anybody who has nearly blacked out while studying for finals in college accidentally did it in that moment in a far less glorious/prestigious way… those heavy heart-beats and drooping lids, fears of blood pressure levels… each and every beat, you have to wonder just how many things it passed through as it reverberated outwards into the cosmos…
Work is work, y'know. Those are my people.

The impossible- a practice in which a normal discipline applies results to one which has yet to be invented culturally. Traditionally you see it in samaurai stories, or tales of Shamans, in which their practice of an instrument can tame the very forces of the weather or even time, itself...
