“He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge;his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”
While transcendent, and also inherently present in all things at all moments, the “redeemer” is very much its own archetype/style, before a realization that it’s the natural resolve of all of the familiar and socially prescribed, spontaneously occurring social archetypes of any particular era is fully embedded in one’s being, that is…which is to say that first one tends to liberate themselves voraciously, monumentally, with ritualistic behaviors and great efforts, before one tends to find the Cause for comprehensive liberation as comprehensively present in all things at all moments…
Ritualistic living is the game, through and through, a fine example of which is conveyed in today’s passage, which has imagery which alludes to ‘bird people’, a paradigm which has historically been linked to the concept of angels, or has existed in cultural pockets in which such a concept had yet to be cultivated, meaningfully, in social discourse. “He”, the redeemer, he who saves, will “cover you with his feathers”, presumably that which will save. Mutuality seems to be the prescription, but it entails you taking on His image… His nature… for “under his wings you will find refuge”.
Practically, to drop the branding, to pull back the curtain and reveal the Wizard for truly who He is/how He operates, we are informed that it is His “faithfulness” which will be your “shield and rampart”. Methodically, it’s a deep faith in the world, and an equating of it as it is with God, in addition to a devotional act of surrendering your will regarding your place in it, and essentially surrendering that of everyone else’s ritualistically in acknowledging that God’s loving determinism is absolutely comprehensive, which can act as a “shield and rampart” to the psychological torments which plague humans until certain spiritual epiphanies are achieved. This is the way. It’s the only way…
Interestingly enough, there’s plenty of language in the New Testament which stresses that the redeemer, Christ, came to redeem “all”, in addition to a lot likening Jesus to a template for human beings, specifically, but really any example is a relevant example to any other (ex: inter-species) because of some sort of hard to understand but meaningful similarity being carried out by Spirit in the lives of all things…nonetheless, what’s being stressed here is that to put on the mask of redemption, personally…as something just lopped off of Something inexplicable and somehow tossed into this world to exist eternally forevermore as an individuated entity in some respect, the mask you need to put on is your very own face; we are here to become ourselves…by living, man.
Dave’s not here man.
We are here to self-actualize, and in doing so we resonate with our given nature, and we become redeemed from the very potential to suffer in a meaningful way. Once God is tasted, just tasted, most worldly patterns of suffering run fleeting, forevermore. It’s a thing of weathering the storm/traversing the waters, until experience can somehow induce that meaningful experience in us.
Also too, once tasted, there seems to be a magnetism; all of the literal sources of the world’s issues assemble, conveniently…
We are here to be ourselves. Cosmically, this is the highest calling. Socially, culturally, and we are not this enlightened yet pervasively as a people but most of us do know this at some level… we are here be ourselves. That’s what makes things viable. Discipline can’t infringe upon that territory. Nothing can. Nothing legitimate.
But man, you get into this business and He will cover you with his proverbial, which somehow means non-literal, feathers. You will fly, baby. You will fly.
