Making the Case for Psychedelics; A Perspective on their Brief History in American Culture
It is of supreme absurdity that the man who accidentally synthesized and ingested LSD, a one Albert Hoffman, went on to become the man who actively introduced the larger culture to magic mushrooms, a tool, academics were aware of, of the Mexican medicine men. From the first dose there is a fervor, an undeniable passion that reshapes the day to day life of the consuming agent, and this went on to become a convention of the ritualistic consumption of LSD; a selling point on why the substance needed to be introduced to the larger public.
It is of supreme absurdity that Albert Hoffman was a great orator/thinker. It is of supreme absurdity that this man working with a pharmaceutical firm deeply entrenched with the government was already quite capable of pivoting from a chemistry position to that of p.r. … that he could frame the very narrative on the entire institution of the potential consumption of psychedelics for the sake of consciousness expansion, and that he could partner with the right kinds of people in the right kinds of ways that they would introduce the very notions/cultural patterns to the larger American public, culminating in “the acid tests”.
Without the actions of this man and his cohorts, there is no counterculture revolution out West on behalf of the young people in our country at the tail end of the 60’s. There’s no creation of rock n’ roll and the industry which blossomed around it. The American concert in this day and age is nearly still synonymous with their format, pack the arenas on weekend nights; somebody built that.
Hoffman was an enlightened man in a world that knows many brilliant individuals involved in academia, and few outright, open-eyed, most waking hours of the day, enlightened men. That this is all transpired in his vicinity is absurd. The causations are entirely unknown to history. It could be entirely conspiratorial. It could have all been spontaneous…spontaneous intelligent like the Apostles on the Pentecost in the Bible.
Causations aside, the absurdity is undeniable. And the fact of the matter is, is that the primordial rumblings of Woodstock and the revolution it ushered on are in fact here, close to this pharmaceutical company, and close to the government. And rolling out of an entity that is working within the pharmaceutical industry and is close to the government is this cultural revolution insisting that real, moral power can only be found within, that the only reliable link to God is personal/non-institutional, and that this is a necessary set of checks and balances meant to strengthen the American people/prospects of this country.
This is how we fight the systemic tendencies of institutions to be self-serving in the face of true utilitarian value. This is… “power to the people” via “free love”. This is “peace” politely insisting that love is the only thing which orders the cosmos, and these man made narratives of state are way too wompy/artificial to hold true power.
It’s a facet of psychedelic culture…there’s an obvious conspiracy here. It’s all over. Everything you can read up on concerning the history of this stuff is tight… there’s control somewhere in there, and the narrative presented seems to SCREAM “Obviously there’s something here, keep going down the rabbit hole, please…”.
You can sift through the materials available, as controlled or redacted as they are, and clearly see the whole story. It’s like a test in practical intelligence.
Why are there stories out there claiming people recently ate like as many as 550 times the normal dose and received positive health benefits? What is going on?
If you think burying your head in the sand is moral action concerning this one, there are people feeding you nearly on the daily who are cackling in bemusement and wondering why they even do what they do. Ungrateful kids… they just want life handed to them outright on a silver platter.
Once was a time it took bravery to establish a march towards civil rights. Don’t forget it. That’s reality. The idea that our kids are misbehaving by mixing it up with things that could empower them to make a brighter future is a facet of the autocratic powers that have been threatening to steal “our democracy from us” in addition to saying all those of horrible things about the prospects of mankind or peace; they are fools.
In that they don’t know how to make peace, let alone sustain it. What are they so fervently insisting we sustain in its place? I think I’ve read this story before…
Bullet time; these things arrived as America was departing from being so aligned with what is in this day and age associated with Church culture. They arrived as America was naturally entering a secular age…when the church itself was sort of in a lackluster period of irreligiosity post WW2…they arrived 50 years before the beginning of the 21st century, and when the 21st century hit, the Church was blasted with scandals regarding LGBTQ rights and child molestation. The psychedelics arrived in the vicinity of the civil rights movement… and they were there as the day to day work of transforming every square inch of this country continued on…
Psychedelics did not hurt American religion. But they are a perfect tool of communing with Spirit in a way that makes religion seem like a rip off. I thought religion was a rip off until I saw Dharmic traditions…Buddhism and Hinduism…and then I realized how tedious/antisocial/austere psychedelics are relative to every day life as a normal, spiritual person (oh and also too that miracles are real and should be capable of being ordered like french fries; we can't assert our will but we can always trust God deeply in a the check is in the mail way)…but nonetheless, when life stops being play and the stakes grow pronounced, time and time again I see the psychedelics voluntarily step up and obviously keep mankind safe. I’ve yet to see the Church do it in a similar way, as audacious as that is to say. Despite all they do, if the storm sirens come on, I see them hiding in fortified towers. I can no longer turn a blind eye.
They hide from the storm and I am the storm. They turn away from certain activities and I am the master of all sacrifices at each and every moment. One of us is capable of making the changes we need, even those we desire. Time is in bloom, Mankind is in bloom.
Because that's the way it entered my mind...

No matter the setting, no matter the scale, no matter the forms of war or the level of technology represented, every battle is the same, and it is but merely a way of testifying to the same universal truths taught in Scripture.
I hold this particular one in my hands.
