Riffin' On Disregards the Locus and Focuses on the Control

Updated: May 4, 2024

“The Supreme Truth exists outside and inside of all living beings, the moving and the nonmoving. Because He is subtle, He is beyond the power of the material senses to see or to know. Although, far, far away, He is also near to all.” 13.16 Bhagavad Gita Nature, The Enjoyer and Consciousness

“Although the Supersoul appears to be divided among all beings, He is never divided. He is situated as one. Although he is the maintainer of every living entity, it is to be understood that He devours and develops all.” 13.17 Bhagavad Gita Nature, The Enjoyer and Consciousness

Is it to be “understood” that “He”…”devours and develops all”. Before

we dive in to this one, and it’s a chasm… I can’t help but to marvel at something seemingly directed at the ages, at the superficial level, real easy like… that it’s an undertaking…a contract of sorts…an understanding that what’s happening here is still very much dualistic… He “devours” in addition to “developing” All, this omnipresent force…it’s framed as if suffering hasn’t been pervasively escaped, and I think the discourse, socially, is of a nature that truly we really are there. Suffering is grace, we, in  this secular era, somehow, in our quality of life, in the insane convenience of the wifi era, know…we know that suffering is grace, in the universal scheme of things… we’ve come to learn it.

‘All things happen for a reason’…the collective seems very much savvy towards… the question really is is…what crisis do we even find ourselves, collectively, faced with, and what deficiency in critical awareness has nurtured the fruit that is the wisdom/salve?

It’s with some confusion as to the fine mechanics of it that I find myself punchdrunk on the certainty, the passing whim that this is perhaps, in these passages here, today, the best framing for spiritual advice…the most universal and potent spiritual advice that can really be given from one Being to another… that  the Supreme Truth is omnipresent, is the Source of all phenomena, is responsive to our behaviors, and can be engaged effectively so as to induce a meaningful change in our (or those of others if ya dig voodoo) bodily states in the moment… persistently it’s this single tidbit of info, or the actions prescribed within, that any crises of any nature in this world are about inducing…the point/objective of suffering….

This is the single, prescribed behavior. The effective engagement of the very frameworks provided in today’s passage. Every sensation or living experience you’ve ever had can actually be described by these frameworks. Obviously, if there were people running the schools or the government consistently, mannnn….they know that this is the truth of reality, and that what our cultural systems teach as reality or an approach to it is slightly fallacious/outright wrong relative to this …and then we print “In God we Trust” on our money (not so much our people)…the entire point of the different cultural systems of  the various nation-states of the world are about fleshing out these universal constants, but you can never start consistently cracking the code until someone teaches you Transcendentalism directly (the movie National Treasure with Nicolas Cage explores a derivative of this, as does Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code…)…

God isn’t two-faced, yo. He does “devour” but at a certain point through being devout/righteous living this falls off as a relevant phenomena, and life becomes entirely about “development” towards one’s destiny…about how to best get there. We know this to be true…it’s our American, secular lifestyle in loaded terms…we escape suffering ((and we do so collectively/communally because that’s the only way to successfully earn your way into it without ransacking your quality of life)) and life becomes about self-expression. The quickest road there on all fronts, material, spiritual…etc… is through the frameworks provided in today’s passage…through direct Transcendental Communion with Source and deep contemplation about one’s life/place in the social world.

Our entire society is about tending to this timeless institution (the personal relationship with the Transcendent). If you focus on it personally in a direct way, you really really come into accord with the social world which surrounds you…which is what a lot of the things we do as adults are about at some level… keeping the heat off your back...

Are spiritual healers or savants real? Yes. And it’s today’s passage…passing through some sort of personal system of effectively engaging it…I’ve seen it a bunch to differing degrees of efficacy/social relevance. What insults me is the notion that there aren’t miracle workers when they actually can be effectively created/trained, and social experiments ran…

But technically this also means, at some level, that all of the social disciplines...all forms of technology...all cultural forms... are also today's passage, meaning that the entire society and all of its amenities is just secretly God, incarnate, in disguise....which is how the Gita ultimately presents the material world... So a spiritual healer, even when real, is only providing a similar service as that which an accountant provides, and if you've ever had to earn your CPA, you'd probably agree there's something conspiratorial going on with the accreditation process...

Ultimately life appears to be about presence…and this ‘presence’…this loaded term…has in its airs all of the physical qualities associated with salvation/an escape into utter bliss. Life is a victorious affair, often framed as a redemptive one…it swells the heart and forces one, much as in sexual congress, to physically yell out…to convulse and cramp even…in the ecstasy of truth…

Our bodies fight every minute of their existence to hold onto that truth…to house or embody it…it is our very spirit/consciousness, and suffering is such a small part of its eternal existence…

We live in a world in which to celebrate athletic achievement, people will dump an Igloo cooler full of cheetohs onto a head coach’s…head…it’s wildly entertaining out there…

All life activities exist within a system which, through grace, serves the purposes of life, collectively, rather effectively….

The real question is just how you can make off rich in the meanwhile…
