Riffin' On As the World Does

“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.” 2 Corinthians 10:3

We are here, unilaterally, to get out of this without leaving the world behind, whatever “this” is… Cyclically, socially, triumphantly, in the name of both God as well as the noble pantheon of abstract values, we accumulate material trappings, generating bonafide opulence, in the mirror image of the Absolute, capable of meaningful transmissions across entire generations (mostly, culturally, along the familial lines, or, at times, merit).

Things last. Moments pass. It’s all in service to a larger institution which ensures the effective survival of the species, as well as which seeds the prospects of spiritual enlightenment ever deeper in every layer of existence. Our hierarchy of needs unwittingly drives us to do what life ultimately does when the symphony of living activities, spanning species, spanning eras, even, plays out in its totality. Which is to say, in some terms, that we are impoverished, perpetually, and that this…spoken from someone who has immersed himself in digital Sanghas that are utterly neat and convenient, as of late… can easily be addressed. Arguably, all activity outside of that which crudely ascribes to base survival is about doing as much. That only stimulus animating us day to day is that we are unto each other… that you’re playing a part in the very thing that comes around and serves you as it mysteriously does on occasion, proportionately. You can plan a life and do things day to day, spend money, and attach some sort of narrative to it, but that is only possible because an economy/social world was lopped together and in doing as much you’re probably feeding a machine which feeds the prospects of life itself, in a crucial way, elsewhere, along the lines of necessity.

While the world is a miraculous vehicle, and cynicism the enemy at large…while we could very much use an entire era in which we harp upon how society itself is a spiritual tool, the body of God, how it’s a mysterious structure full of things that can’t fully be explained and yet that we have normalized/demystified unnecessarily, dynamically it is a bad trip when not absolutely done from a place of surrender to God’s will. In thought experiments, people sometimes grow despondent over the plights of hypothetical factions/people stuck in “cycles of poverty”…either there is a market in existence and they are in a place within it in which they need a total bailout, or there isn’t even a market and there’s no sense that society could just be started by building some mud huts under an enclosure of trees where the weather is favorable year round… believe it or not, if you get into the minutia of what markets are and how they work, where they came from historically… you need a meaningful sense of what is actually yours, and some of this, even if you have to work for it, is yours… and essentially, riches are derived by righteous people working riches gifted, fortuitously, in a spiritual manner, in service to their fellow man. It’s all only God, and can only be potentiated by working it spiritually.

The world does not approach the social idea of wealth like this, culturally. The further the idea of “wealth” is divorced from the idea of “God”, to be old school, the further it downslides. I, myself, am not this enlightened out in the world unless I have just been meditating. Culture sets the tone. When people fully realize economic systems aren’t about getting rich personally but about increasing the quality of life for everyone…perspectives shift, culture shifts, and suddenly the narrative on what’s happening day in and out is moreso centered around the development of individuals more than it is about the development of political parties, per se. Our media at the moment is abhorrent. Just recently, they dialed it way up for quarantine coverage, so they already have established methods of being conscientious and heart forward…we’re just in our vampire phase, at the moment.

What I mean to convey is that the world…dynamically, it boils over. It comes to a fever pitch. We are, in the midst of riches, impoverished, as we toil, slowly assembling the monolith/pyramid…slowly changing old patterns and revising culture along progressive lines. Discourse on spirituality is the fitting catalyst.  Society/culture is the vehicle. Religion as an exploration of unfolding, current events…
